I. University Overview
Shanghai Zhongqiao Vocational and Technical University was established in 1993 as a non-profit private undergraduate institution. It is the only university in Shanghai selected for the national pilot program of undergraduate-level vocational education. The university’s vision is to become a leading modern vocational and technical university in China with international recognition.
In May 2023, Zhongqiao University successfully obtained authoritative certification from the German higher education quality assurance agency (ACQUIN international certification), becoming the only vocational institution in China to receive this certification. In October of the same year, the School of Economics and Management successfully joined the American Association of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), becoming the first vocational institution in China to be selected for this alliance. In recent years, the university’s international education level has continuously improved, successively establishing the International Education College, IBT International Vocational Education Research Institute, CVTT China-Germany Vocational Education Teacher Training Center, and Zhongqiao Helsinki Future Engineering College, providing broad platforms for students to study abroad and participate in overseas exchange programs. The university has conducted international exchanges and cooperation with nearly 20 high-quality overseas universities in the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, Germany, New Zealand, Spain, Finland, France, Japan, South Korea, and other countries. Nearly 100 students go abroad for further study or short-term visits each year. IV. Application Requirements
1. Identity Qualification
Applicants should be non-Chinese citizens holding ordinary passports.
For those who are former Chinese mainland (mainland), Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan residents who have immigrated and obtained foreign nationality, or those whose parents are both or one of them is a Chinese citizen and settled in a foreign country, and who have foreign nationality at birth, they must hold a valid foreign passport or nationality certificate for more than 4 years (inclusive), and have actually lived abroad for more than 2 years in the most recent 4 years (as of April 30 of the enrollment year) (9 months of actual residence abroad can be counted as one year, based on entry and exit stamps).
2. Age Requirements
Generally between 16 and 55 years old.
Applicants under 18 years old must have their parents formally entrust a foreigner or Chinese person residing in China as their guardian during their school period, and provide relevant certification materials.
3. Educational Background
Applicants should have graduated from high school or have equivalent academic qualifications. For those countries and regions that have signed intergovernmental mutual recognition agreements on academic degrees with China, the admission requirements agreed upon in the signed mutual recognition agreements shall apply.
4. Language Proficiency
For disciplines and majors taught in Chinese as the professional teaching language, the Chinese proficiency requirement should reach at least Level 4 of the International Chinese Proficiency Standards to enter undergraduate course study. (HSK certificate is valid for two years and must be within the validity period when applying)
5. Financial Capability
Applicants must provide a complete and truthfully filled economic guarantee certificate issued by the university template, signed and committed by themselves and their parents/guardians/guarantors.
V. Application Method
Applicants should log in to the Zhongqiao University official website (https://www.shzq.edu.cn/main.htm), select “International Exchange → International Students”, download the relevant forms for filling, and send them to the designated email address according to requirements.
VI. Fees
1. Application Fee: 500 RMB, to be paid by wire transfer to the designated bank account (handling fees to be borne by the applicant). The application fee is non-refundable after payment.
2. Tuition Fee: 39,800 RMB/academic year. Tuition fees are only accepted in RMB cash, UnionPay card payment, and bank transfer. Other currency cash and other payment methods such as traveler’s checks are not accepted.
3. Accommodation Fee: 7,800 RMB/academic year
4. Agency Fee: 1,000 RMB/year (refund for excess and supplement for deficiency)
Special Notes:
(1) Accommodation fees must be paid in full for the academic year upon check-in.
(2) Water and electricity fees are charged according to actual usage.
VII. Medical Insurance
Students must purchase comprehensive medical insurance for international students in China from insurance companies within China. Those who fail to purchase medical insurance as required will not be able to complete registration procedures. The insurance fee is approximately 800-1,200 RMB/year.
